Imagine Instruments announces Off-grid Solar Power System Kit for Remote Sites
September 28, 2012 – Imagine Instruments announces SPS Series Off-grid Solar Power System for Sensors, SCADA, Telemetry and Instrumentation. Designed for remote site installations, the SPS Series is ideal for applications where no connection to utility power is available, or reducing the frequency of replacing limited-life batteries.
The system operates by collecting the suns energy with photovoltaic modules and converts the energy into electricity. A solar charge controller regulates this electricity to keep a long-life, rechargeable 12 Volt battery fully charged. Power from the battery is passed to a series of conditioning modules and is converted into the proper voltages required by the equipment being operated.
Each model is shipped in kit form and includes a solar module, charge controller, deep-cycle battery, voltage converter or inverter, earth grounding kit and all the cables, brackets and hardware to complete the installation. Models condition and regulate system output voltage to 3.6, 5, 12, 15, 18 or 24 Vdc and provide up to 3 Amps out power for operating wireless sensors, instrumentation, SCADA and telemetry equipment.
Features of the solar power system include a weather-proof NEMA rated enclosure with a hinged door, vent plug and water-tight cable glands for wire entry. A choice of aluminum or steel mounting brackets that allow for wall, roof or pole mounting.
